Jacqueline Carbé, a self-trained artist from Virginia, explores the possibilities of artists can create an experience of place that goes beyond visual mimcry and instead encapsulates the feeling of a place. Carbé utilizes watercolor to create a visual story of a rural landscape: rich greens and golden yellows form the expansive landscape with undulating hills and bushy trees at the horizon. The sky opens up with light greys and soft yellows creating luminous clouds. The foreground of the landscape is marked by small brushstrokes of white and spots of black and grey, creating a landscape that invites the viewer in for exploration and contemplation.
